The URL itself does, since a browser can't normally load another site's page directly: Nijata sends the address you enter to a public reader service that fetches the page and returns its text. That's the one input method that isn't fully on-device — file uploads, pasted text, and OCR'd images never leave your device. If you'd rather keep everything local, use Upload file or Paste text instead.
Not yet. Nijata's dashboard and scan history live in local browser storage on a single device, so they aren't currently shared or synced across a team.
Nijata ("we," "us," "the app") helps you understand privacy policies and terms & conditions by scanning documents you upload or paste, and giving you a plain-language summary and risk read. By using Nijata, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Nijata is designed to be friendly for teens as well as adults. If you're under 13, please use Nijata together with a parent or guardian. If you're between 13 and 18, make sure a parent or guardian is okay with you using it, especially if your school or family has its own rules about apps like this.
Nijata gives you an automated, plain-language read of a document — it's a study buddy, not a lawyer. It can miss things or get nuance wrong, especially with long or unusually worded documents. Never treat Nijata's output as legal advice, and don't rely on it alone for serious decisions. When something really matters, read the original document or ask a trusted adult or a real lawyer.
Nijata reads a file, pasted text, or a scanned/photographed page you provide entirely on your own device — in your browser, using on-device processing and OCR. It doesn't upload your document or image to a server, and it doesn't need an account to work. The one exception is the optional "From URL" option, which has to contact an external reader service to fetch the page you point it at. Because Nijata never uploads or stores your actual documents, there's very little of yours for us to hold — but what little the app keeps on your device, you fully control. You always have the right to access, review, or delete your local scan history, and you can opt out of keeping any history at all by clearing it after every scan. There's no account, subscription, or mailing list to unsubscribe from, since we never created one, and you can simply stop using the app — or withdraw consent to anything described here — at any time.
Your documents and scan history live only on your device, so there's no central database of user content for us to lose or for an attacker to breach. Nijata itself is delivered to your browser over an encrypted HTTPS connection. If we ever became aware of a security incident affecting the app's own code or delivery — as opposed to your device, which we have no visibility into — we'd disclose it here and update the "Last updated" date above.
Nijata doesn't require sign-up and doesn't promise the analysis will be perfect, available every second, or free of bugs. We provide the app "as is," and do our best to keep it useful and accurate.
The Nijata name, logo, and app design belong to us. The documents you scan remain yours — we never claim any ownership over content you upload or paste.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for decisions you make based on Nijata's summaries, or for any indirect or incidental damages from using the app.
We may update these Terms as Nijata grows. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continuing to use Nijata after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Nijata is built to be private by default. A document you upload, paste, or photograph is read and analyzed entirely on your own device — including OCR for scanned pages and images, which also runs on-device. It is never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server we run — we simply don't have a way to see it. The one exception is the optional "From URL" option, described below, which by its nature has to reach out to fetch the page you point it at.
Nijata keeps a private scan history on your device so your Dashboard can show every policy you've checked in one place. For each scan, we save the document's name (or the site's domain, for a URL scan), the date, its risk level, word count, and the flagged phrases and short quotes Nijata found — never the full original document. This all lives in your browser's local storage, is never uploaded, and only your device can see it. You can clear it any time from the Dashboard or by clearing your browser's site data for Nijata.
Typing a web address into the URL tab is the one part of Nijata that isn't fully on-device, because your browser can't normally load another site's page directly to read it. To make this work, the address you enter is sent to r.jina.ai, a public page-reading service, which fetches that page and returns its text back to your browser for analysis — the same way any website works when you visit it, just relayed through that service instead of a browser tab. Only the URL and the resulting page text pass through it; your uploaded files, pasted text, OCR images, and local scan history never do. If you'd rather keep everything strictly on your device, use the "Upload file" or "Paste text" option instead.
Nobody, for anything you upload, paste, or scan with your camera. Nijata has no server-side database of your documents or history, so there's nothing to hand to third parties, affiliates, advertising partners, or advertisers. We don't share, rent, or sell your information to anyone, and we've never received a law enforcement request for it — because we have no user data to hand over even if asked. The one narrow exception is the URL you choose to type into the "From URL" tab, which is shared only with the reader service described above, and only so it can fetch that one page for you.
There's no fixed retention period beyond what sits in your own browser: your local scan history stays on your device only until you delete it or clear your browser's site data — it isn't retained anywhere else, indefinitely or otherwise. The reader service used for URL fetches doesn't receive anything from us beyond that one request, and we have no way to retrieve or delete data from it because we never had a copy in the first place.
To load Nijata's fonts and the tools that read PDF, Word, and image files, your browser fetches a few files from Google Fonts, the cdnjs content delivery network, and jsDelivr (for on-device OCR). Like any website, those providers may see standard request information (such as your IP address and browser type) as part of normal delivery, under their own privacy policies. Those connections only fetch app code, fonts, and the OCR engine — never your document, image, or scan history.

Nijata is designed with younger users in mind, and it's built to need as little personal information as possible — there's no sign-up, no profile, and no document or history ever leaves your device. Because everything happens on your device, you're always in control, and you have the right to access, review, or delete your local scan history at any time — you can opt out of keeping any history at all by clearing it after each scan, straight from the Dashboard, or by clearing your browser's site data for Nijata. Since Nijata doesn't hold personal data on a server, most GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California) data-subject request mechanics simply don't apply to us — but if you're covered by those laws and still have a question, contact us below and we'll help however we can. Simply closing the tab clears anything else held only in memory for that session.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We'll never make our privacy protections weaker without telling you first.
